MIA

No, not as in "missing" as in MIAMI!

A few weeks ago Alan and I, along with our friend Jen (of What's in Jen's Crockpot) headed to Miami for the ING Miami Marathon.

Let me tell you, Miami knows how to put on a race!  With 21,000 runners registered, Miami's never seen so many running shoe wearing, pasta eaters on a Saturday night!

We go out and explored the city and made sure to get our fill of carbs on Saturday! Even Gluten free pasta!

And then it was up at 4 am to get ready to race.

This is what it looked like before the race:

The course was interesting and gave runners some great scenery spots along the way.  Running over the bridge as the sun came up, South Beach in the early morning, the causeway coming back into Miami and the ING mile were my favorite parts.  Miami spectators were great!  Miles and miles of people with noise makers, signs, etc.  Even firemen passing out beaded necklaces to runners.  It was great to see the city come out and support the event.

Alan did the full, while Jen and I did the half.  Jen came in at 2:00:32, I finished 2:12:53 (a new PR!) and Alan blew us away with a chip time of 3:18:37 (a new PR as well!).

The after party for the race was great as there was tons of food and drinks, even beer!

The view of the finish line from our room.

After a little rest and hot showers we headed to South Beach for some good food and an afternoon on the beach.

I think I could have stayed in this spot forever!

I was a great weekend, a great race and a great chance to get warm, even if just for a few days!

I think you should have posted the beach photo with the Miami locals in it. Otherwise, nice post!
