Open Water

As our impending Olympic distance triathlon gets closer we decided to take a day and do a little open water swim practice.  You might think swimming is swimming and water is water but trust me, really swimming in a pool versus a lake, is very, very different.  With a high of 98 degrees today, we packed up early and headed north to Red Top Mountain State Park for the day.

We had never been there before but it was suggested by a triathlete friend of ours and what a great suggestion it was! We found the beach and beyond the "swim" buoys we found a great area to practice distance, turning, sighting, etc.

It was great to get some time in a lake and acclimate a little more to the nuisances of open water and course swimming.
