Recovering

Yesterday we completed our first Sprint Triathlon, held at Indian Springs State Park in Flovilla, GA. The course consisted of a 600 meter swim, 15 mile bike and 5k run. While the events in their separate rights weren't extreme, the process of doing one after the other and the transitions they involved, not only of gear but also of your body, made for quite a challenge. We had a great time and learned priceless leasons that will come in handy for future races. Our final times came in at Alan: 1hr. 49 min., Valerie: 2 hr. 11 min. We spent most of today recovering but also managed to plan our next triathlon. September 6th we will be participating in the Callaway Gardens Triathlon in Pine Mountain Georgia, where we will bump it up to an Olympic distance challenge.

Thanks to Alan's parents who joined us for the weekend and suffered through 5 am wake up call and the 95 degree weather of the day to support us. It was great to see familiar faces at the transitions and finish line!

Next up, the Peachtree Road Race, this coming Saturday. After that it will be time for a week of down time!

Pictures from the day are in the post below.
